Monster Traps

One of the coolest things to build in Minecraft are monster traps. There are all different kinds, each protecting you from those nuisances! Here is a very simple one I made.

Required Materials:

  • 3 Trapdoors
  • Shovel (or use your hands)

Step 1:

Dig a hole where you want your trap that is 3 blocks long and at least 4 blocks deep.

Step 2:

Add the three trapdoors on the top.

Step 3:

Before you go to bed, open the trapdoors so monsters can fall in. When you wake up, close them so you don't fall in. This trap works well!

Try making your own trap! The best place for traps are next to your house's entrance, where monsters have to go across to get to you.

How to make a Nether Reactor

What Nether Is

If you don't know, Nether is a massive room with several stories. It lasts for about 45 seconds and lets you pick up random items, including gold powder for making Glowstone, and many other objects. But be aware that there are Pigmen (pig/zombie) that will try to kill you, so bring your sword when you make a Nether Reactor. When the 45 seconds is over with, holes will be created in the side of the Nether mansion so you can evacuate. Outside, it will be a massive structure made out of Netherack (a.k.a. obsidian). The reactor inside will also be transformed into Netherack.

How to build it

Tip: The Nether Reactor can only work in Survival Mode.
Required Materials:

  • 4 Golden Blocks
  • 14 Cobblestones
  • Of course, the Nether Reactor Core

Step 1:

Place five cobblestones in a cross-design on the ground.

Step 2:

Place the four golden blocks on each corner of the cross.

Step 3:

Place the Nether Reactor Core onto the center cobblestone.

Step 4:

Place cobblestones on each of the golden blocks.

Step 5:

Place a cobblestone on to the Nether Reactor Core.

Step 6:

Place four cobblestones to form yet another cross-shape, with the top-center cobblestone being its center.

Activate the Reactor

To activate your new Nether Reactor, make sure you're in Survival mode. Then tap the Nether Core Reactor (that blue thing with yellow squares) and it should turn red. Prepare for Nether!
